Default Emotiva Audio XSP-1 Differential Reference Preamp

Quote:
The XSP-1 Differential Reference™ Preamp is the result of a two-year development effort, which was aimed at creating a modern, reference-caliber, fully balanced analog stereo preamplifier with the flexibility and features demanded by the sophisticated, discriminating audiophile. The XSP-1 integrates a classically designed audiophile topology within an advanced, digitally controlled operating environment. Extreme care has gone into maintaining the purity of the analog path, while allowing the digitally controlled analog elements of the system to offer features, resolution, and accuracy unobtainable in a completely analog based design.
Folks, I know we love our brands, but these features for $900!

Pair with some Emotiva Monobloc amps and your choice of Subwoofers & Speakers you might just have your answer to all your audio problems!

My Emotiva MPS-1 amp and DMC-1 pre/pro have been doing daily duty for three years running the surround speakers with nary a problem (other than the pink noise bass test, which never worked on the DMC-1 models).

I wouldn't mind owning their gear for HT...but am not a fan of their house sound for 2 channel.

---Their monoblock amps are good value, I think.

---That preamp from the pictures above; it looks nicely build.
Good RCA jack connectors (Tiffany style), Balanced connections, MM/MC Phono stage, Impedance selection switch, Crossovers for the Subs, trigger.

This is strictly a two-channel ANALOG preamp; no USB, no HDMI, no High Res Audio music, no on-screen display (TV), no GUI, no Audyssey, no Auto setup, no DACs, no Digital, just Analog, right?

Remote control?

Forward with a flat soundstage. Hence why they sound great for HT.

agreed.

I used the XPA-1's along with a XPA 3 and UPA 2 for a 7.1 HT. The system was a HT/2 channel and for me the gear was too bright for my tastes. Lots of power yes, and worked great for HT , but for 2 channel not my cup of tea.

I also used their USP pre amp which was once again not my thing. I liked the Parasound I had gotten for around the same price which I thought had an overall better SQ.

I had nine of them at one time (2 XPA-1's and 7 UPA-1's). They sounded ok for HT. That being said, my Mc207 sounds a lot better for HT. Used, it was about the same price as the 9 Emotiva monoblocks. Gulp.
