When I first installed the hurricane cord I heard a noticeable improvement over the Shunyata cords that were previously in place. When the firebird cords were installed, I didn’t notice as much improvement over the hurricane. I think hurricane is really good for the price. I thought about getting a Dragon, but I am not sure it’s worthwhile given the huge price difference.

Thanks Rich. Very helpful. I’m building a combination 2 channel/theater as well, with an emphasis on 2 channel. Room/house should be finished by end of month. I currently use Shunyata Alpha HC power cords and a Denali 6000/T so your comments are very helpful in more ways than one.

j3brow, if you do decide to go with a combination of Hurricanes and Firebirds, AQ recommends that the more expensive cords be used at the wall.

I took an Audioquest leap of faith and ordered (1) Niagara 7000, (1) Niagara 5000, (5) HC Hurricane power cords, and (6) Edison NRG 20 amp outlets. Construction should be completed next 4-6 weeks. I’m chomping at the bit!

So glad Audioquest came out with all of these fancy new power cables. In the past couple months I’ve absolutely stolen several minty Audioquest NRG-Wild power cables from the used market. These Wild power cables are crazy good, many thanks to those who dumped them in favor of the new Audioquest product line!

I sold a pair weeks ago just to experiment with some new options. Still have not decided what would be my next move. But the NRG wild is really a great cable. Has proven great both on sources and amps and has beaten many other well reviewed cables in several systems. I completely understand your joy

Audioquest NRG-Wild and Wireworld Platinum Electra power cables sound so good to me. Could never dream of upgrading from a sound that already blows me away. Too many other things to use that upgrade money for. From the movie Platoon, Elias says “Feeling good is good enough”. I would say that sounding good, is good enough.

Question for the Hurricane owners. Did your new Hurricane power cords need any burn in when new? I just swapped in a brand new blue High Current for an older Hurricane High Current (Red) dealer demo. Big difference in sonic signature. I seem to be missing the base now.

I’m using all blue Hurricanes and have noticed subtle changes after a 100 hours or so, for the better. I agree, give it some time.
