I am seriously considering this amplifier to pair with Sonus Faber Guarneri Evolution. Anyone here own or hear one? 40 watts of high current, pure Class A power. According to my research, it should be plenty of power for my smaller room...we'll see I guess. Any thoughts or opinions are appreciated. Very curious to hear opinions on the built in MC phono stage too...

Very interested in this amp myself. I am going to demo one early next week, I can give you my impression if you like. Not that it would mean much

I owned the previous model. Drove 2905's + Harbeth SHL5's with it. Had PLENTY of welly with 20 wpc - I never ran out of head room. Phono stage is quite good. Most tube like SS I have heard. Big. Heavy. Doesn't get too hot for a Class A but needs air around it. Also has a good headphone amp in it.
You may find it a very attractive option.

Arrived this morning! Photos below:
Turntable is at dealer right now having a new Sumiko Blackbird installed. Should have it later this afternoon...anxious to hear the Luxman phono stage. Last edited by Bavarian05; 02-03-2015 at 02:13 PM. |

Nice!
I just got back from my demo. I really enjoyed the Luxman L-550AX and I think you are going to find it a very capable amp. I felt like I could listen to it all day and smile (which is what I am after). I was also rather impressed with the 505u. I did not listen to it for long but the short time I did it was very musical. |
