It is interesting. I've had all kinds of speakers in this room. From stand mount monitors to giant horns. Working with the room really is the most important thing. I live in Chicago, so space can be at a bit of a premium. I don't think anyone ever built a house in this city thinking of the need for a giant listening room. Heck, the average bedroom size can't be more that 15x20. Anyway...in this room I've had Focal monitors make a tiny little miniature sonic sound stage extravaganza. It was impressive, but I could not live with it for long. That was actually my last system before returning to Shindo. This system couldn't be more different. The Utopias were cold. Not bad cold, but emotionally uninvolving once you got over being impressed with their capabilities. Now with the Shindo? Now when you walk downstairs into the listening room with the Shindo system playing it's like you've become a fish swimming in the middle of a sound aquarium.

Kev, how sensitive [or forgiving] are the 604's regarding speaker placement? Do they work well fairly close to a back wall or in a corner placement scenario?

I think that this 604 works quite well with back wall placement. In fact, you will see an example of that at Matt's site. I've got mine a few feet out right now, maybe two feet from sidewalls. I don't know about corner placement and I'm not certain that I would try it in the near future. Unless Matt chimed in and told me too

Only had them a few weeks. Still futzing.

I'll get some photos eventually. No offense, but I'll never be posting dimensions. After making a considerable investment in these, I have no interest in giving free proprietary info to the counterfeit crowd. I'm not accusing you of that, but there is an active cult of Shindo copiers, and they stop on by this place from time to time. And every Time a guy copies the dimensions, port placement, internal construction, and crossovers from a Shindo speaker, the value of my investment does down.

You have to view stereos as consumption, not investment!

I think external dimensions are harmless. Those are available from dealers. It's the cross overs that they view as their secret sauce.

Still I am curious about the size of the shindo cabinet? Any idea if they will sell just the crossovers? I guess that would be a good question for Jonathan.

I hear ya kev. I am just curious as the 620 cabinet is huge. I was wondering is the shindo one is just as massive.

Well, yes, I don't approach this as if they will appreciate. I'm simply referring to limiting the capacity for depreciation.
