Detail and dimensionality? Sounds like Ref 5 to me. Greater tonal density with Ref 40 but at twice the price. No less a personage than Peter McGrath uses Lamm M1.2 Refs with Ref 5 and, of course Wilson.

Have you considered the Audio Research REF 5?

How's the synergy between the Lamm and the Ref 5?

Personally using the Boulder 1010 pre amp with the lamm m2.2 and I really like the combo better than with the lamm LL2 pre-amp.
