Just my two cents! I brought home a MAC7200 in February! I do listen to FM/AM broadcasts quite a bit, and love the power that the Amp has and that it can drive my speakers with ease. I have a small listening space and have enjoyed how this receiver can crank my music selections with very little distortion and such nice clarity. I'm a HAPPY Man! Hope you will enjoy your 8900 like you anticipated you would. Cheers!

The best way? Buy and install the DA2 module and connect to the TV with an HDMI cable.

Trying to avoid the $1k upgrade

Will an optical cable work?

I run audio out from TV to an unused Unbalanced connection.

Anyone get the MAC7200? Comments would be appreciated as I'm interested in getting one. A new, updated model with a DA2 would be nice!

osar i just bought a MAC7200 kinda on a whim… thot after many years of being an audio snob (revel, wilson, sonus faber, audio research, ayre, sim, etc.) i was buying blue meters and a gorgeous faceplate. bought online, unheard. i hoped it would sound good and look great.

now running “lowly” kef ls50 metas w a shitty streamer sending tidal via optical into dac1, i am prepared to feel like a moron - the beautiful power and tone of this mac receiver (!!!) is as impressive as hell. i thot they were just made to look pretty at best buy, but good lord is that wrong. now, they do look pretty, wherever they are, but there is greatness lurking behind those blue meters. such great space, air, tonal coherence, the thing just sounds NICE. and i’m just getting started w positioning, choosing an output tap (8 or 4) and tinkering my way toward optimal.

never thot a secondary system would have my attention like this. hard to imagine a weak spot in a lineup that has a receiver sound like this through $1500 standmounts. not the final word in sonic excellence on any one dimension, but DAMN its good. now, the ls50metas seem pretty special esp as value goes, but boy is that 7200 making them sing! the NAD and old bel canto stuff the mac replaced were not close.
