Maybe one day an XLF-Q7 shootout ..

I have no idea what you are talking about. Scroll down for an in room measurement in Jeff Fritz's room. Q7 has state of the art bass well below 20hz.

Sealed box done properly is a good as it gets in audio reproduction. Go listen to Q7 and listen to real bass notes for the first time.

Easy ......

Firstly I never commented on the sound of the Q7, ( dont have to , not my place) there was an open debate on sealed vs Reflex, I find sealed enclosures inferior in sound to vented and that graph posted is not a or even close to being a lab test on the Q7 and to insinuate after hearing the Q7, I would have heard bass for the first time is Ironic and laughable, considering the subjective nature of Audio and you not knowing me nor my experiences..

Just saying ...........

I'm with Tony, even though he's beem quite blunt about it
Audio is indeed subjective, and "better/best" bass for some might be just the opposite of what the Q7 provides. BUt I've heard many, many big box speakers, with passive and active bass. And nothing comes even close to the Q7, if all you want is to hear actual bass notes, and not only shake the entire room.

You're free to participate in any debate you desire. When it comes to reproducing music with the highest fidelity and most lifelike reproduction any box with a slot or port is an instant fail. FACT!

Depends , are you speaking out of a slot or a port ...

There are some, who consider, When it comes to reproducing music with the highest fidelity and most lifelike reproduction anything with a box to be an instant fail, you know box coloration and thing ...

Fact ?.........

Indeed... open panel dipole bass properly executed yields much higher quality bass notes than any vented box could ever dream of.

Vented boxes don't reproduce bass notes, they spew alot of audible distortion. It's too bad you can't recognize that one note - high Q port drone & distortion as your listening to it.

Your missing the Irony...

You do realize all box speakers have cones, coloration and noise do not only come out of ports. Next there is mass, you are aware of how the added mass applied to the drive area of a sealed speaker affects it's rise time, so one type starts better and one stops better ....

Then there's radiating output, any speaker radiating as a monopole will not energize a room realistically , hence a box speaker with rear firing ports ( or bi-polar) would be superior to a sealed monopole, hence vented speakers with rear firing ports are superior and also move all port noise and coloration away from the listening position ...

IMO, YMMV.....

You should really get out and listen more Tony.................
