I agree, fiber conversion when done right (geared for audio) can make a huge difference. When funds allow I will revisit this venture. Right now a modded Ethernet switch has shown me that everything matters.

I am with you Rob.

And you can drop the AQVox switch at $800 and replace it with the SOtM sNH-10G Audiophile switch with external clock input for $1,900. Geesh.

I don’t need a switch.

Empirically, I can see how something like the Gigafoil might reduce noise and will try and test one of them. I might then use one of my spare iFI LPs to see if that helps.

This is a whole new rabbit hole to peer into.

You guys should go analog. You'll only need to swap out cartridges, tonearms & turntables. Saves lots of $$.

Ha! That is an even deeper rabbit hole.

I have less than 100 albums that are all crap... So what would 4 or 5 thousand albums cost me?

And the SOtM is $1900 assuming you have a clock - my recent experience gained results and in comparison a heck of lot cheaper then other additions I have done and essentially closed the door to an amazing sound

My point is that fiber conversion does not have to be bad.
Yep, I am well aware that the power supply for the FMC is important. That is why I am using my iFi iPower ultra-low noise linear power supply to power the downstream FMC that connects via Ethernet to the Sonore. I'm using a TP-Link MC200CM Gigabit Media Converter, the wavelenth is 850nM. I could get the TP-Link MC210CS which are 1310nM and try those.

Though I am very happy right now, so...

Already have a full-on analog rig: Michell Gyro SE with SME V arm and Koetsu Urushi Vermilion MC and EAR 324 phono stage. Absolutely love it.

The streamer is for when I am working and don't want to have to get up every 20 minutes.

Replace the tp link switch with a cisco and try it out. I believe it is the culprit, sounds as what you describe.

Just a cbeap Cisco or netgear will sound much better.
