Default turning on inputs on a C2300 preamp

When I got my phono stage I turned off the MC PHONO input (to save tubes) and renamed the high level D/A input to MC PHONO. I will be going back to the internal phono stage but I cannot find in the manual how to switch an input back on - I want to switch the MC PHONO back on once I rename the high level back to D/A.

Press and Hold OUTPUT2 and TONE BYPASS until unit rests. This gets you back to Factory Defaults.

I have the MC input turned off on my C2300. Does turning the MC input off actually reduce tube use as the OP mentioned? I thought the MC tubes were still part of the circuit and powered on even with the input turned off? I always replaced the MC tubes when I changed the other tubes. Maybe I have been wasting good tubes?

I have a pdf copy of the manual that I could send you if you would like.

I believe Dan mentioned in my other thread the tubes do not actually disengage when the input is turned off - I do respect his opinion. When I had my C2200 I could turn them off.

Kevin.......Yes, the C2200 preamp phono stage tubes do turn off when the phono/aux input is setup to use the aux input of the single shared phono/aux RCA inputs. The C2300 is designed quite different. It does not share any inputs through a single pair of RCA inputs, plus it has both moving magnet and moving coil phono stages whereas the C2200 only has a moving magnet phono stage. When I had the C2200 preamp I left the phono/aux input set to aux to preserve the phono stage tubes when not in use. The only drawback was that when I wanted to use the phono stage and switched the input back to phono for the shared RCA inputs I had to wait for the tubes to energize and warm up before I could play a vinyl album. I didn't take long, but I found it a bit inconvenient.
