Default is DSi200 good enough for Sophia 3 ?

Hi,
I promised to a good friend of mine to sell him my Sophia 3 next year.
He loves music, but never into highend, but as he will own Sophia3 soon,
I will have to give him advise on amplifier and source.
How about telling him to find Dsi200 ? Is it still maintain ARC sound quality ?
I really want to push him 5SE+150, but I know he will shock to know the prices.
I never have any real experience with DSi200 before although I have owned
CD7, R5,R40, and long time loan R250 before, but these were tubes.
I plan to dump all Transparent Cables to him together with Sophia3 too.
ARC+TR+Wilson, must be matched for sure.

Toga

TOGA...I never heard the DSi200 but there are others who have reported on that thread so hopefully they will be able to help.

I have heard that exact combination and it works very well. The Sophia 3 are actually fairly easy to drive (to a limit).

Actually, a very good, synergistic match with the Sophias (at least the 2s, in my case) was the Krell S-300i and the Naim Supernait. I preferred both to the DSi200 and I am a dyed in the wool ARC guy.

To me there was just something "off" about the sound of the DSi and the Krell and Naim options came much closer to the sound I am able to achieve with my LS-27/VS115 combination. I have also heard good things about the new Naim Superuniti, but have not had the chance to try that in my system.

I've heard the Sophias 3 with both the ARC DSi200 and the Krell S-300i and got very impressed. In fact my conclusion was that the S3 are great speakers and relatively easy to drive.

I have spent a lot of time listening to my S3 with a old Linn Classic and it sounds really good. I do think the S3s are an easy speaker to drive and will make the most of any source component.

I've heard the DSi200 with the Sophia's. It is a very nice combo. As a matter of fact, S3's with the 200 and the CD 8. A minimalist system that sounded pretty darn good!

Toga: These new DS amplifiers from ARC are the real deal. I do not think your friend would be disappointed by the Sophias with the DSi200. Far from it! The DS amplifiers have a "you are in the front row" sound, without being too bright, that should rock the Sophias.
