Dealing with digital color noise
We're using a Canon point-and-shoot camera (used in the Mc overhaul series) for a variety of scenes, including outdoors in manual mode for taking Xmas decoration photos.
There is so much digital noise in dark areas. How do you deal with it? -Gregory

Doohh.. of course. It has 80, 100, 200, 400, 800 & 1600. So crank it down to around 100?
Yep.. I took scores of pics the other night on a tripod, in MANUAL mode, with various F stops and shutter speeds, of lit outdoor decorations and especially of the Mc gear in natural and low light conditions. The avatar is the result of those pics, however it required the Digital Camera Noise Removal tool in Paint Shop Pro 9. PSP9 is the greatest (besides Photoshop.) -Gregory

Thank you very much. As mentioned, I took numerous low light pics of the McIntosh units. Here's one of the MR-77 with shutter of several seconds, and a touch of digital color noise still visible after using the PSP9 `noise removal´ tool. I'll need to use the built-in timer because clicking it adds a smear due to slight movement.
Do you notice other distortion? No no.. not in the sound but GEOMETRIC distortion. The lens was closer to the FM scale rather than the knobs and lower edge, so the photo looks `crushed´ with a perspective of being wider at the top. These things can be adjusted in post processing. Also notice the focus is near and to the right. PSP9 is excellent for this kind of thing!! -Gregory
