Default Free allen key for volume and input knobs

Hi Guys,

I have 6 extra little allen keys that fit the tiny allen screw that holds the Shindo knobs in place. I am offering them to the first six folks that respond with a mailing address. I'm sending them via US mail in US only since I don't want to spend a bundle mailing them internationally.

I had to order them in a pack to get the one I needed.

BTW, once I removed the knobs and tightened the retaining nut on the volume control, all noise and buzzing went away. I had been having issues and this simple fix (Thanks Matt!) did the trick.

Regards,
Chris

Hi Chris,

That's a very generous offer. I have a ton of allens (metric and otherwise) and I was able to remove one of the knobs, but the allen screw in the other one appears to be stripped. Can you please tell me what size key worked for you?

Thank you,

Alberto

Hi Alberto,

His key is of a different size for the Apetite. All other Shindo knobs - volume and input - use exactly a 2mm. Using anything else can potentially strip it. Using a smaller size than 2mm will eat away at the walls of the screw causing it to strip. A larger 2.5mm for example, simply won't fit.

Thank you Matt. I now recall having this conversation. I honestly remember only trying to use a 2mm - which worked fine on all the other screws - but somehow the input selector screw was or got stripped. No big deal though.

BTW, now that I've moved my main system with Monbrison and Cortese to the the living room, the system is playing 4-5 hours/day. What a delight!

I bought a set of allen key screwdrivers at an RC hobby store. really nice proper screwdriver design rather than the typical L-shaped hard to use allen key. Also includes the correct size to remove the plexiglass face panel

No worries - I can check it out next time we connect up in town.

Fantastic on the new setup! You have a beautiful living room, and I am sure the system fits right in.

The Apetite key is .89m and apparently is specific to Apetite. If there are any Apetite owners that want one just in case, just let me know.

CK
