I was talking to a friend who had the chance to compare the Guarneri Evolution with Olympica (NOT sure if it was OII or OIII). According to him, the Guarneri Evolution crushes the Olympica?
I am not sure but this is disappointing! How come the OIII which is much bigger and much more expensive, can be inferior to the Guarneri Evolution? |

Sonic Guild - I think there must be some confusion here. The GEs sell for $20K US without the matching stands and $22K with them, while the top Olympica model IIIs sell for $13,500 per pair. The Olympica is a less expensive line for SF, while they are still an excellent performer offering great value in a beautifully finished speaker.

But is it possible that the OIII is inferior while being able to cover more frequencies and has larger cabinet + extra 2 drivers? |

I would expect the OIII to possibly be more extended with deeper bass, but the higher quality of the drivers and crossover components in the GE likely result in both a more revealing and refined presentation to justify its higher cost.

The GE are simply amazing, pair them with a couple of subs and you're in for a treat. |

Why people use the term boxy to describe SF? What is NON-boxy sound, so I can compare?

Congratulations on your new speakers. I have auditioned both the SF OIII and Amati Futura at my dealer. I didn't hear "boxyness" or a "boxy" sound during my audition with either speaker. If it were me, I wouldn't worry about what others say regarding the OIII or any speaker for that matter. It only matters that you like them. Just my 2 cents. BTW, according to J. Golden Holt's definition of boxy in his book "The Audio Glossary, he describes it as lower midrange colorations and flat imagining from a loudspeaker, due to panel resonances. |

There is no way I can imagine somebody calling the SF boxy due to flat imaging! The main reason why I purchased the OIII is the imaging. When I heard the SF O I was shocked how it manages to replicate layers of music. I was swimming soooo deep into the sound stage and passing through beautiful layers of music. Anybody knows the goal of bi-wiring on the OIII? |
