does Cub make their own or do they farm it out to MTD ?

I'm leaning towards another Ariens or a Honda at this point.

I'd go to the place where you might make a purchase and talk to some of the service guys.

thoughts / opinions ??
I had (still have) a 45" Cub Cadet with 420 cc engine but the belts kept wearing out leaving me with a repair to do sometimes in mid-use. NOT FUN AT ALL. The slowest wheel speed wasn't slow enough, so you had to go, stop, go, stop so it would not bog down in deep snow. It needed a speed half the speed of first gear. If the snow wasn't too deep it was OK. Most snow blowers need more adjustability (but lack it) in the very slow wheel speed range and don't need fast walking speeds. Their smaller width machines might not go through belts as quickly.

25 years ago (in another life ) I had an Ariens 1032 that never gave me a problem but my rotten ex wife kept it in the divorce and knowing her never used it. She never lifted a snow shovel or picked a weed in the garden.

Because the Cub Cadet kept burning through belts, last year I got a new Ariens 32" with 420 cc engine, 12V electric start and hydrostatic transmission. Expensive but worth it. It is a GREAT blower. The hydrostatic transmission (infinitely variable wheel speed) is fantastic.

If price was no object, the very best is the VenTrac, hands down, no contest, disagree and you would just be WRONG. The 4200 model is more than enough for home owners.

search Ventrac on youtube for more entertaining amazing machines.

MDT appears to make for a number of sellers.

They are just painted different colors.
