I have not found the Futura's to be overly warm. They do not have a narrow soundstage. They are neutral, musical speakers with a wide and deep soundstage.

What I have found is that careful setup and the room they are in will make far more difference than any associated electronics. Like other high end speakers, Sonus Faber speakers DEMAND careful setup.

For example, if you have your audio rack or flatscreen tv in between your speakers, you will not get the best performance, even after spending tens of thousands of dollars on the latest electronics and cables. Dump the rack-between-the-speakers, dump the TV. Get better sound for free.

If you have your speakers close to the back wall, or close to the side walls, likewise you will not get the best performance.

If you have not placed the speakers to optimize their coupling with your room modes, you will not get the best performance. Get help here to do this if you are unsure, and experiment a lot.

I hope this has been helpful. Enjoy.

Tom

I can't imagine the room without having the rack or other equipment in between the speakers.

Speakers maybe after the level of rack (closer to the listening couch). This is the only option that I can imagine.

If you have no way of removing the equipment from between the speakers, then bringing the speakers forward and away from the equipment is your best option. This is especially true if you have a flat panel TV between your speakers.

I have my equipment placed on one side of my listening area, nothing is between the speakers. I understand this is difficult to do in many rooms.

FWIW - I just made this move in my room and love the results. It took a long Power cord to extend my dedicated line to the new rack position and then two pairs of long Interconnects to get back to the amplifiers which I kept between the speakers. It has made a noticable improvement the staging and overall presentation in my room.

However, I have a dedicated room which makes it easy to move what I want, where I want it.

I would not call it "night and day" but a solid step up the SQ ladder. The Amati Futura goes both higher and lover than the O3. It is much faster and more dynamic. Voices are presented more natural in the Futuras IMHO. I played them side by side in my living room for a week so I can honestly say I have good understanding of their differences - N.B. in my room and with my electronics.

Welcome to the club. I enjoy the O3's since one year and I'm happy like the first day. Great speaker...

I had the chance to compare the OIII with B&W802. I found the 802 lifeless and the bass has no enough extension! This is surprising given that the 802 has much bigger cabinet compared to the OIII and also has larger drivers.

This is really surprising to me.

What do u think guys I am afraid that I am just biased because I own the OIII.

Of course you are . But its like comparing Canon with Nikon. It is just a matter of taste.
And Sonus faber tastes better .
