Sancho- Use a tack nail, but I put red plastic on each one, so I could easily find the nail in the future. Be careful, use a nail that is SHORTER than the thickness of the cabinet walls. Do Nice and easy (-: Josh- Over the top, gorgeous work. Congrats on the new 604's. Did you guys see the 604's on US Audio Mart. They have the Mastering Labs (Doug Sax) XO's. This Duelund 16Awg is really impressing as a SC on my Harbeth/Croft setup. I have a 10+ foot pair there, so I used up my whole 12 meter order. I don't want to cut these down, so I may just order more to try in place of the Belden 9497 on the XO's in my Shindo setup. I also have some of the 20Awg and Switch Craft RCA's. I'm waiting on a local tech to terminate the 20 Awg as an Interconnect for me. Any suggestions for shielding? (-:

I wouldn't shield them. You should only need shielding for phono. If you want to use it for phono then Jeff Day covers some shielding options from Parts Connection but I would just do Belden 8412 or 8402 for IC unless you can rock the naked Duelund.

My custom crossovers are as minimalist as you can go consistent with stock but only first order on the horn instead on the stock 2nd order so fine for low power but not enough out of band attenuation if you were using for PA, concerts, or other high power apps. And there are NO resistors in the signal path for attenuation - just the auto former - which is very uncommon with series crossovers. I bought that from Werner al la carte.

OK finally put the brass footers on and repositioned the speakers with my wife's help.
They tigheted up a bit. The bottom of the one speaker which had water damage is warped and the surface is crambling a bit. The back panel will be chnaged as soon as i get the XO, but not sure what to do eventually with the bottom. I understand from our previous exchange that the bottom part i sintegral to the cabinet, but something wil need to happen. Likely I will need professional help (LOL dont we all?) |

Check out something like hairpin legs dot com... You could be done in 5 minutes. Easy.

Great thread guys. I joined the Flamenco club about two weeks ago and have been considering a lot of the tweaks mentioned in this thread.
I'd like to start with the Werner XO, a new back panel, stands, brass screws, and that brace that supposedly helps with the low end. Curious, does anyone sell pre-made stands for Valencia/Flamenco? I'm not very handy and don't have the tools, so I would prefer something professionally done. As for the new back panels, is that something Home Dept could potentially do? I know they cut large plywood sheets into smaller panel sizes but cutting a hole to exact measurements may be where they draw the line. Thanks for your help! |

i suggest local lumber vs Home Depot - the quality of the needed 3/4" baltic birch plywood is terrible at the HD. When they cut in smaller pieces it splinters badly

I think the problem with most shop cuts is they use a coarse saw and it's usually dull. :/
My buddy bought a Festool track saw and that thing was easy and awesome! |
