C53 Question HDMI-ARC Related
I am considering selling my C2600 and picking up a C53 to keep the peace in my home.
Amps are MC301's. Could someone tell me if this scenario would work? 1. Leave the C53 on 24/7 connected to an Echo device so my wife can just shout at it to play music. 2. When she watches video (Samsung Q90), have the HDMI-ARC connection automatically override the current selected Echo input to hear the video source. When she shuts the Q90 have the C53 automatically go back to the last input (Echo). 3. When I listen to audio, I manually change inputs to my Roon end point. This should work if I disable CEC power off in the C53, correct? Thanks, Paul |

I have never heard of an "override" like you are describing, but the only way I could see something like this working is if you daisy chained your Echo through your TV via a passthrough input. I know Sony TV's have them, but not sure if others do. You could also see if you can run Alexa directly on your TV rather than a stand alone echo.
Bottom line is you need to switch inputs to run a different source. |

Thanks for your suggestion, I'll need to look into that.
I know my soundbar overrides any other input when it senses a signal on the HDMI-ARC input, then switches back when the screen is turned off. I hoped the C53 would do the same. HT Pass-Thru works this way on the 2600 too but requires a 12v trigger from my HT Pre, which I no longer have. |
