Home theatre flooring
Need some advice.
We have a very bad storm earlier this week. Got about 2 inches of water in my basement, where the HT room is. We had carpeting, and it has been ripped out. So far electronics, speakers, appear fine. Testing all to make sure. Thinking ahead to new flooring. I could re-carpet. I'm also thinking about going to a harder, flater surface (bamboo, cork?, laminate, etc). If I go this way, I would put a rug in front of front speakers. For those who have gone this route, do you have any pointers, recommendations, etc. Appreciate any help. |

This might be a golden opportunity to find a local "acoustician" to advise you. Choice of materials of flooring, sub-layers under the flooring and ceiling types all have big impact on acoustics. An acoustician might enable you to improve your sound while making the repairs you are going to make anyway.
