Yes.... exactly that. Better bottom end & more powerful sounding while giving up only the slightest bit of smoothness in the mid-range. The GLs are a very nice tube.

The Mullards still interest me. They apparently come from the same factory as the Gold Lions & the Tung Sols. The guy at Upscale says they sound like the GL's.

I distrust Chinese products so buying the Shuguangs would be a tough pill to swallow.
