David.......To each their own. I like LP's, CD's, SACD's, Streaming, and my N10 server, not necessarily in that order. I enjoy all of them.

I enjoy them all too. I just was not expecting to convert a all digital guy into wanting a turntable by doing a comparison analog vs digital with the improvement I made to my digital components.

Even doing pcm to pcm upsampling with the poly-sinc-ext should do wonders and help bring some of those lacking nuances up a few notches. |

I'm using a Aurender...? Everything is still breaking in, to me the digital sounds very analog now

I too like vinyl and digital (though I no longer have any CD or SACD players). A couple of years ago I would have said digital is only good for "on the go" music, but my opinion has changed. It can be fun to play the same track on vinyl and the DAC at the same time through the preamp - and simply pressing a button on the preamp remote to switch between.
Some music I prefer on vinyl, and some I prefer digitally. Funny your friend mentioned he thought the sound stage was wider with your vinyl setup. It's the other way around with mine. I'm going to do some experimenting with Roon->HQPlayer sometime during the next few weeks.

Given our obsession with great sound, it's A-OK to be honest with yourself about which format does a given album the best justice. For example, I can't listen to Jimi on CD when I have the mind blowing Experience Hendrix numbered pressings I bought the month they were released.
OTOH, I bought about five "reference" pressings of DSOTM in an effort to best the MFSL CD (a collectors item itself now) to no avail. Then, my fiancé happened across a very nice early US pressing at the GW that had next to zero play time - let's call it the equal of the MFSL. I still don't have a copy of Folk Singer on vinyl that is in the same league as the MFSL CD. All good! |

I keep learning new things about the D1100. Today I was pleasantly surprised to find out a very simple thing that allows the programable HR085 remote to control everything now. All I had to do is select alternate IR on the D1100 and do the same on the remote and now the remote automatically controls my C2300 as well as all its functions. I can power on and off the whole system now with the push of one button, adjust the volume up or down, change the bass and treble, mono/stereo etc. all with the remote that came with the D1100. If anyone has a C2300 and lost the remote , the D1100 remote will control it without any programming, you just select alternate and your done. No trigger cables needed .
