I'm starting to see some reviews and owners impressions of the HD-DAC1 online. Everything I've seen has been positive regarding sound quality. A common nitpick is that it only has a 3.5mm input (no RCA input). I wish it were available in silver in the US.

Cost, no doubt. $800 for preamp and DAC requires keeping production cost to a minimum.
