I just saw and heard it at the NY Audio Show. It has most of the Classic 3 performance, though the design's pretty different. At the show, though, they weren't calling it a Scout; they were calling it "Classic Prime." According to Matt Weisfeld, it replaces the Classic 2 for all intents and purposes.

I predict VPI will sell a boatload of the new Prime turntables. That is a great price point for a quality built turntable and unique new tonearm.

Need to see more pics, however I'm thinking that aesthetically, I prefer the Prime over the Classic.

To show how individual and subjective this stuff is, my preference is the opposite. But I'm sure the Prime's look could grow on me.

If the Classic had these feet, it would have a lot different _ better look than those giant HRX feet.

I just got back from the NY Audio Show, and spent more time in the VPI room. And for clarification: the name of the new table is Prime (no "Scout," no "Classic"). Speaking with Mat Weisfeld, the initial name was Scout Prime, but it was later decided to go with just "Prime." There you have it.
