I have a lousy room for audio. 20 x 14 with tile floors and a big sea grass 'rug' on the floor. The speakers are 10 feet in front of me and about the same distance apart. The Heresy III's were completely re-designed and on paper are 99db. They are not the greatest speaker in the world but they don't do anything wrong and are an excellent match with low power tube amps. The sound is effortless. I have had better speakers and amps but got tired of the high end chase, a whole 'nuther story, and bought B stock III's on ebay. My first real speakers were Heresy I's in 1977. Full circle and absolutely no regrets. I have no problem recommending them or any of the Heritage series. There is a reason they have survived 60+ years. Google Heresy III reviews.

I'm not familiar your speakers and suggest that you take your amp to a Brick & Mortar audio shop and try it with more efficient speakers. I think you will be more than pleasantly surprised.

I've been running the amp for a couple of days and it is opening up nicely. A bargain in the crazy world of audio. An excellent match for the Klipsch Heresy III's.

Is any one using a Shuguang Treasure CV181/6SN7?

I have tried the treasures-z 6SN7, found it a bit muddy and soft. My favourite driver tube to date is my newly acquired Mullard 6SN7gt made in holland. Also enjoy the full music 6SL7, but it needs to be matched with my EML 5U4G which takes the edge off. I would try the full music 6sn7 before the treasures tube.

I heard good things about the Treasure CV181. Do you have a lot of hours on it? I've read that it takes a long time to settle in. Like hundreds of hours.

I probably have 50 hours on it, maybe. That said it does sound better than it did. I just find it isnt as detailed and articulate with soundstage at the holland 6sn7gt or my RCA 6sn7gt.

This is my tube in the amp, hasn't had too much play time lately. Found my all dutch tube lineup is doing the trick in my lil green 6V6!

Well true to his word Dennis took care of the problem and now I'm listening to some great sounds coming from my system again. The IFA-1 obviously has some more running in to do but the pairing of the IFA-1 with my Bryston Mini T's sounds excellent. Attenuator control is at around 1:00 - 2:00 and I have plenty of volume and bass.

Listening to Calexico's new LP "Edge of the Sun" and this is a really really good record!

Still would like to listen to my IFA-1 with some really efficient good sounding speakers for comparison's sake if nothing else. Klipsch Heresy III's, Tyler Acoustic Halo series, Omega's, etc.
