Missing the beginning of a song isn't really minor. It would annoy me once I'd identified the flaw. Surely you'd be the same? Most of us at this level/expense tend to expect the best with no flaws?

Yes, bought it all from Rich (also have a c500, MC501s, D100, and another MPC1500 I bought from Rich).

Rich is coming here tomorrow to install a firmware update he just got from Mac—I will post if it cures the ailment.

My unit runs 1.02 which is the latest. I hate to be the bringer of bad news, but that won’t fix it. On the plus side, you should have 1.02 anyways to avoid other issues

Correct. Once you know it is there, you can’t not hear it

Hello all. It's Charles here. I have been out of pocket for personal reasons for over a year. I have recently made a significant upgrade to my system which includes adding a D1100 to the mix. I use my MCD1100 primarily as a transport now. I am using a 4 year old laptop, Windows 7, and JRivers 23. I am not experiencing these issues. I downloaded the Mac driver required for Windows and de-installed JRivers 18. My D1100 is literally brand new. So far so good.

I've just read over a good bit of this thread, though not all of it. So, if I offer a suggestion that's already been thrown out there, my apologies.

I'm running USB audio into my MA8000 that is fed through an HP server (Windows 10) that runs the JRiver MC20. The USB output is set to asynchronous. My playback experience has been perfect, without any of the issues brought up here.

As a suggestion, I would try using the USB input on your D1100 from a different source. It might be worth your while to try the JRiver software on your laptop (I assume you have one) to see if the issues remain. If so, then it's likely a hardware or firmware issue.

Sorry to hear you're having these problems Joey. It would pester the living hell out of me.

I find this problem perplexing. The thing is, it is not isolated to only the USB input. In my system, I can reproduce it with MCT450 via the McIntosh MCT cable or USB/Coaxial/AES from my Aurender N10. It is any and all inputs on the D1100. Perhaps it is as you suggest and Charles personal experience suggests ..... the ONLY way to avoid this defect is with a laptop running correct drivers based on operating system using JRiver which seems to be the only configuration McIntosh mothership seems to offer as a solution. Not even their own transport can bypass this issue. It’s sad but I still love my D1100. It’s a shame because many people will not buy this DAC because of this issue. However minor to some (it doesn’t decrease my enjoyment overall), it will be an absolute deal breaker to others. Once again, McIntosh shoots themselves in the digital foot.

Missing a fraction of a second is a big deal? I have D1100 and do not have this problem, I’m using a Aurender as my source.

I think some people are making this into a big deal and the problem may be with the computer they have if it is running windows. You will not likely have this issue with a Mac computer or a Aurender music server. Windows has always been a crappie os .

Well if you read my post, I am using an Aurender!! And McIntosh MCT450. Same issue as those using computers. Mine occurs with every type of input I am employing ..... usb, coaxial, aes, and MCT. For me, no computer other than the Linux based Aurender.
