Having toured the cathedral extensively in 1988, one of the most amazing features to me was the history of the wood used to construct the roof and bell tower inner structures. Some of it was 3-400 years old when harvested during the original construction.

We spent lots of time in the bell towers and on the roof studying all the gargoyles, etc. Fortunately, I have lots of photos still.

Truly an epic loss. And on the day after Palm Sunday ...
