Seems some of our members are interested in WW2/Cold War historic events and technology. I wanted to share a few youtube channels I personally find interesting.

Dedicated in 2000 as The National D-Day Museum and now designated by Congress as the country's official World War II Museum, this remarkable attraction illuminates the American experience during the WWII era with moving personal stories, historic artifacts and powerful interactive displays. From the Normandy invasion to the sands of Pacific Islands and the Home Front, the Museum brings to life the teamwork, optimism, courage and sacrifice of the men and women who won the war and changed the world.
The Museum is an incomparable experience for all generations and not to be missed on any visit to New Orleans. Come learn with your mind and your heart that freedom isn't free. Meet living American heroes--our WWII veteran volunteers. Celebrate the American Spirit at the National World War II Museum. https://www.youtube.com/c/wwiimuseum/videos |

I was passing through Georgia and stopped at the “NATIONAL MUSEUM OF THE MIGHTY EIGHTH AIR FORCE” in Pooler. Thought I’d spend a few hours but it turned into a whole full day. What a museum. We are fortunate to have such great museums |

WWII History Buffs
We visited the Kent Battle of Britain museum a couple of years ago, it was very good. http://www.kbobm.org
Also that year we visited the War and Peace Revival ( https://warandpeacerevival.com), a fun show of enthusiasts and collectors, described as a “military and vintage festival.” There were all sorts of WWII vehicles, flyovers, and re-enactments. My cousin (a Brit) made a career of restoring WWII vehicles, especially tanks, and acted as our tour guide. He had an interesting career, among other things working on the set of Private Ryan, driving tanks in the show Band of Brothers, recovering stashes of German vehicles in bunkers in Eastern Europe, and delivering restored Willys Jeeps to Tom Hanks and Johnny Depp.

Thanks for posting.
Used to enjoy going to and climbing around on the tanks & other guns at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds. http://www.peachmountain.com/5star/U...%20Lee%2C%20VA. Have not been to Ft. Lee to see how moving all the tanks & guns has gone after the $billions spent on building up the R&D work at Aberdeen over the past 10yr, or so. We kept our boat in Havre de Grace and sailed by the proving grounds every time in & out. When they were testing a rail gun we always bemoaned not knowing it was about to happen as it was amazingly loud coming across the water.

The Battle of Lanzerath Ridge - How 18 American Soldiers Stopped the Entire 1st SS Panzer Division
On December 16 of 1944, 18 American soldiers from a reconnaissance platoon faced off against a German advance, outnumbered 27-to-one in what would come to be known as the Battle of Lanzerath Ridge. The day-long confrontation saw the 18 soldiers battle 500 German paratroopers with such ferocity that the German believed a massive American fighting force must be waiting for them in the nearby woods. The deception would prove vital as the platoon delayed the entire 1st SS Panzer Division for nearly 20 hours and set the stage for the Allies to win a decisive victory at the Battle of the Bulge... https://youtu.be/__DpninsWP4 |
