I see a microphone in the back. What type of recording to you do?
Gary, although i've been involved in the music publishing and entertainment business as a lawyer for over 30 years, i have never pretended to perform. Yet, I do write, and occasionally play. The Blue mike is part of a small recording set up that I use, largely to create backing tracks to play guitar. I'm a pretty sucky guitarist, except for improvisional leads. My primary instrument is piano/organ. Now that I am transitioning to the music business as an entrepeneur, rather than somebody's lawyer, my hope is to get much more actively involved in the creative process, and at that point, I will rely on professional studios. I really like analog
Thanks for the props on the system.

Good eyes, Free. Yep, it's an old shell that had been converted to a cigarette lighter years ago, I've had it since I was a kid. (I was a heavy smoker as a child )

I got to hear Bill's system this past Saturday. What a treat!

Apart from briefly walking to rooms at RMAF that had horns (and promptly walking back out again) I had never really heard a horn based system.

This is an incredibly musical system that conveys the soul of music with ease. I could snuggle up to this system for days it's so easy on the ears. Bill has obviously painstakingly assembled this system because it was very hard to find anything amiss. What really surprised me was that with my ear pressed up against the horns, there was no buzz, hum or whoosh, just silence!

Bass was very well integrated and while not as deep as my Sashas, it was so much more articulate, musical and convincing. Midrange was to die for and piano sounded more realistic and detailed on this system than I've ever heard. It's nice to hear a tube system that gets transients correct along with decay; from the deepest notes to the highest 'plinks' it was stunning, all the while with realistic weight.

Bill has a vast and tasteful collection of music (amassed over many years) and I was treated to wide variety of genres with some great gems (which reminds me: Bill I have to get you to write a list of those LPs!).

Thanks again, Bill. It was both highly entertaining and very enlightening to hear a system of that caliber.

Floyd and I had a good time. I think it is so easy, given the Internet, to NOT get out- back when, audio societies flourished, and folks shared the whole experience differently. Here's my rough recollection of what we covered, in some cases, just a cut or two, and I may have left out a few. It seems we focused on jazz, blues, a little classical, some pop, a little bluegrass:

Way Out West, Sonny Rollins Analog Prod (33)
This One's For Blanton, RTI Test Pressing (45)
Salutes Bessie Smith, Amina Claudine Myers, Leo Records (33)
Black Dub, Black Dub,Jive (33)

I'd Rather Go Blind, Trixie Whitley (10" Belgian pressing- 45)
Roots, Jimmy Witherspoon w/ Ben Webster,Atlantic Jazzlore (33)
Rachmaninoff, Symphonic Dances, Johanas/Dallas Athena (33)
Get Yourself a New Broom, Guy Van Duser Jimmy Novick, Rounder (33)
Dance Macabre, Martinon/Paris Conservatory London/Decca (33)
Just a Little Lovin', Shelby Lynne, Analog Prods (33)
Hello, Hank Jones (with Clifford Jordan), Eastwind Direct to Disc (33)
