I like the Bryston amps very much, I would rate their audio performance very highly.

McIntosh may have the visual edge (depending on one's Personal tastes) but don't underestimate the musical capabilities of Bryston.

They most certainly can hold their own.

Thanks Jeff and Masterlu for your welcoming replies. In addition to 7BSSTs and other Bryston gear - Preamp, DAC and BDP-1 - I use PMC MB2i speakers. I bought them after hearing Wilson Sashas (driven by the very large McIntosh mono blocks) in which I had an interest and found to be outstanding. However, I simply like the PMC sound so much that I upgraded from MB2s to MB2is, which gave me what I was looking for - a better tweeter. With the new tweeter, the speakers seem far more balanced.

I have had wonderful experience with Bryston products, especially its amps, not owning other brands, and I've come to learn that Bryston service is the best I have received from any company with whom I've dealt - audio or otherwise.

But I am curious about what users like about other brands, especially McIntosh. So, Masterlu, what I was hoping you could tell me is how McIntosh amps like the MC601, compare in the sound they produce, to Bryston amps like the ones I use. And if you've used both with PMC speakers, all the more interesting.

I don't use PMC speakers, but Dan here does and drives them with 601's. I'm a fan of Mac's bigger amps 1.2KW's, as well as their 2301 tube amps.

Thanks for the welcome, Dan. I noticed that you run your MC601s with PMC speakers. Maybe I should have asked you the same question I asked Masertlu. Did you demo the MB2i speakers? If so, what did your EB's give you that the MB2s didn't. Not having a PMC dealer here in recent years, I've never heard he EBs, but have read that they are very good.

Hopefully Jeff from AV Solutions will chime in. He uses Bryston-PMC now and previously had Mcintosh-PMC running together.
