And why not add at least a small JL Sub?

Nothing wrong. He may not have seen that you own the mc402s.
Based on fletcher Munson theory, where comb filtering is present, and very basically, our ears are tuned or they react differently at different volumes, the bass and treble boost in the c2300 is actually a good idea- and one should qualify the use of tone controls because of this, so it will not matter which speaker, as long as they are of decent quality... Just as long as you are open to the adjustment, you will have good sound. Mc pres used to have the loudness knob / button for exactly this purpose. Now the bass and treble will provide a more customizable sound to your preference. Sent from my iPhone using A.Aficionado |

My humble experience is that Dyns need a good space/room for you to unleash its true potential...
400 wpc is sufficient

Something I forgot to add is my room is only about 8.5 square meters so I'm wondering if I would be able to make floorstanders like the Dynaudio 3.3 sing without boominess or bass acoustic problems, even if I treat the room acoustic with bass traps etc...

You'll need to measure to see what are the low frequencies that are prevailing, and where to have them "absorbed", with mic in hand and walking around the room for most accurate results. Sent from my iPhone using A.Aficionado |

Not knowing your taste of what is ideal, I have always found my Dyns 3.3 to be very expressive and revealing. For that reason, I use this set up (together with my Plinius Hautonga) for low volume listening albeit low frequency is light.
Keep in mind, I tend to like more laid back presentation too. |

low level listening is fabulous. actually its so satisfying on 11 o'clock vol that hardly you need to go up further. but two thing Contour need most... "one" POWER.. mbl 9007 mono doesn't prove enough for contour s5.4, i realized when i upgrade my 9007 to 9008A. "two" cabling.. my proffered cable was cardas but after a audition on a siltech dealer with royal crown series prince with dynode shappire... i ordered the speaker cable and when i put it on my rig.... AIR lift me from my sofa.. when i touch the sofa OM LORD its insane air. so yes dyne needs good cables. those who have dyna pls get good power and pay attention on speaker cable. my is are cheap.. cardas clear light rca, dac pree and cardas clear reflection xlr on pree power. all ac powercorads are clear and clear beyond on amp. bricasti Dac has wireworld ac. cable is the heart of any good system i believe, we should hint what cable flowing the juice. :P
