I think ROON's 'set it and forget' mode is great. On Radio, it will keep playing music like what you were playing. Great especially if you have a large collection and/or you have Tidal.

You can also choose a genre and it will play for days again, especially if you have Tidal.

With radio, it frequently plays a very limited number of artists that I already have. It does not seem to play artists from Tidal's library that I have not added to Roon. Maybe I need to tweak some settings.

With Deezer and Mog, I stumbled across artists that I don't believe I would have discovered on my own.

When you are listening to an artist or album in Tidal, simply click "add to library", and it will include that artist/albums/tracks from Tidal in Radio.

ROON brings together all your stored music collection along with Tidal, will prioritize highest res selections, offers information, display resolution and more. It was created from some guys who gained experience at Meridian. It will do nothing for vinyl. Hope that helps, try it as others have suggested, and see if it works for you.

Well... i forgot to cancel the 15 days trial.. so i already got charged for 1 year subscription... but considering that once Tidal is available here or when Spotify gives a higuer quality.. i will only stream from one of those... so i dont see the point of Roon if i dont use my music library.

ROON, even with only Tidal streaming will allow you to create a virtual library. Like that album you are listening to in Tidal? Add it to your library and from within ROON it will be yours. And of course, as has been said before, ROON adds depth in content about the bands, albums, musicians, producers etc that you do not get with the Tidal app. Up to you if that is worth the cost of ROON.

I have never seen or used Spotify so my comments do not apply to it.

Not quite. It was created by the guys who created Sooloos which Meridian bought from them and, later, separated them off to develop ROON.

Too bad you got saddled with the year charge. I'm sure you'll be able to figure out if roon can help over the next year. However; if you don't listen to a stored digital library, nor do you use Tidal, then it is difficult to imagine what roon could do for you. It sounds like you want to stream Spotify to your computer, and play it. If that's it just get an inexpensive DAC. I don't think Spotify sound quality would make it worth a high end DAC.

I realized I did not explain myself well.

I own a music library (Flac files ripped from CD) and i am using Roon and its wonderful. i Get it.

but i dont see myself expanding that music library and instead i will finally subscribe to Tidal (once available in my country) or Spotify (once offer better sound).

I just question the purpose of roon once I am using one of those streaming platforms.

Anyway, i already received many answers. thanks!

I was not clear, maybe. To explore unknown music, Roon baffles me, I guess. I discovered Erin Boheme listening to Norah Jones with Deezer, I think. I would not have stumbled across her on my own, but Deezer played it at one point....

Roon/Tidal's preloaded playlists are suboptimal, their titles are not intuitive and the content too heavy towards hip hop. I get the Jay-z connection, but not a fan of the genre. That being said, the Roon interface is great and the metadata is beneficial enough that I did purchase the lifetime option at the end of my trial period. I still have Tidal because of the awesome seamless interface of the two. Just wish the curation aspect was more robust (intuitive?).
