I rotate magic eraser and Onzow. With the Onzow it is easier to see the crud that comes off the stylus.

Acoustic Sounds, Music Direct, Needledoctor...all the usual suspects.

I've been using the Onzow for years without a problem on expensive cartridges. I just bought a fresh one, and it is far more viscuous than the old one i had, even though i never left the old one out exposed- i would recap it immediately after use. I was always hesitant to use the magic eraser, even though i was aware (doug deacon i think promoted it on the Gon) that it was very effective- my concern had less to do with the inherent risk of using it, than with my klutziness- i know there are two ways to use the ME- either as a 'brush' technique or a 'dunking' technique.

I never used the ME either way, for precisely the reason that I didn't want to risk snagging the stylus in the ME material, and frankly, i'm not sure dunking is entirely safe either for that reason, but there seem to be many people that think the ME does a better job. Perhaps they can weigh in here. Last edited by Whart; 08-08-2012 at 01:26 PM. |
