Yes, much better. You see, most of the replies you got assumed that by best bang for the buck you implied a budget turntable (i.e. $500-$1K). But based on your impressive list of components I believe you are after the best bang for the buck in the $3K-5K range. Sounds about right?

Alberto
I agree with you Alberto. At this point, I would say the best bang for the buck would be a Linn Sondek Majik LP12 package for $3750.00. The package includes: Linn Sondek LP12 base, Majik power supply, Pro-Ject 9cc tonearm, & Linn Adikt MM pickup. This table is also upgradable to the full $22K SE version or piece by piece.

That was going to be my recommendations. It's the table I'd own if I didn't have my trusty custom Thorens TD125. I would add a Clearaudio Maestro Wood ($1K) cartridge, which would work great with the C2200 phono stage, and call it day, or year, or decade of happy listening.

I wouldn't mind one of these in my listening room.

I only have a Blackbird fitted right now, but am VERY impressed with this...
It really exceeds expectations so far.

Going to hook it up to the 60th anniv. components and Harbeth 40.1's this weekend.

I think you're right, a 309 maybe.

I have been thinking about changing out the tone arm on my technics but I know it is like putting a band aid on the lu flu bug. I am enjoying playing vinyl again and that is what it is all about.

David.......Changing out the tonearm on the SL1200 is not as simple as it sounds, now is it inexpensive. The SME 309 tonearm that Jeff (tonepub) is installing on his is $2.2K.

It might be better to search out a new turntable with and quality arm in a different league than the SL1200, rather than attempt to modify the SL1200 for better performance.
