It would have saved me a bundle if they did!

It would be an interesting option in a preamp or a DAC.

Gary.......Doing some research this morning on the Krell Phantom stereo preamp, I was surprised to discover Krell offers an active crossover option for this two box preamp. Krell states that the unique crossover feature is a highly sophisticated option. Definable parameters include independently assignable crossover frequencies and filter types for the high and low pass sections. Choices include 40Hz, 55Hz, 75Hz, and 100Hz crossover points with 12dB, 24dB, and 48dB Butterworth or 24dB Linkwitz-Riley style filters.

Wow that Krell comes with quite the price tag. $17,500 I assume that includes the crossover.

Rick.......Nope. The crossover option adds $2500.00 to the Krell Phantom's bottom line.

That's a great read chessman. I'm going to try something similar using Dirac to generate graphs. I want to get visual confirmation just to see if it matches what I'm hearing.
I'm hearing more bass now and think the Bryston is breaking in or the new fuse in the amp kicked up my bass a notch.

Dan, the Krell looks like an interesting unit, but it is only a two way crossover. In the analog crossover realm, the Pass Labs is still the winner and configurable to be as many "way" as you want--2-way, 3-way, 4-way, more-way. You just buy more power supplies and control modules to divide the spectrum however you want.

Gary.......I am not promoting the Krell crossover option, merely pointing out that I became aware of it while we have be discussing the absence of active crossovers in two channel preamplifiers. The Pass Labs crossover is far more configurable for those with such a need.

Well I've had some time to play around with different setting and decided to measure one of the results that sounded pretty good.
This is with everything crossed at 50htz and a 12 degree slope. Looks like there is plenty of room for improvement right?

I don't like how it falls off a cliff at 7kHz - are your tweeters blown out? And that dip at 70 Hz is pretty sucked out (-10 dB) but maybe not obvious with the bump at 50 and 100Hz.
