i shipped my table/cart off to acoustic sounds. SOooooooooooooo WEIRD. Turns out the problem with the cart is a faulty bond between the stylus and the cantilever. When viewed under a microscope, the diamond stylus was teetering partially displaced from its contact in the tiny groove in the cantilever. Seems the bonding agent/glue that adheres the two together has failed. Acoustic SOunds says they have never seen this defect before, they were amazed it would accurately sit in the groove and play! a testament to the perfect alignment set up by AS. they feel it is a warranty issue now and i am awaiting word from Clearaudio. So glad to have a definitive answer to my problem. Vinyl can be a MAJOR pain in the ass, but in the end its worth it. i cant wait to be able to pull out my fav albums again in the near future...its been far to long since i have been able to enjoy my vinyl rig properly.

j3brow.......That is something I have never heard about before from any company's cartridges. I am certain Clearaudio will make it right. Glad you finally have a definative answer. It was a perplexing problem.

Still awaiting word from Clearaudio. AS shipped it out to Clearaudio for inspection. Could be awhile before i hear back.....all i know is i did not do any damage to the stylus so they best make it right.
I have decided to upgrade my VPI with the JMW 10.5i http://www.vpiindustries.com/arm_jmw105i.htm gonna grab a VPI 16.5 RCM while Im at it! looking forward to getting everything back and spend some time...... spin the black, spin the black, spin the black circle!
