Can't really agree with some of your points since I have a few LPs that were recorded from a digital source and sound just as bad as the CD. I also have many CDs that were recorded from analog sources with the modern jitter eliminating techniques like K2 with rubidium clock and the resulting "glass master" with precise pit lengths that they were stamped from. They sound great.
The Ayre CDP with the MP filter also eliminates "most" but not all of the digital hash by the way. I also have some LPs and CDs that I can compare back to back and it really depends... some compare favorably, some do not. Obviously digital has made progress and with the MP filter, I can certainly listen and enjoy modern CD playback just as much as LP.
The solid state vs tubes has very little to do with it, it is still the quality of the recording on any media you listen to that will matter the most.
