Yeah, the SME20 is definitely one of my favorites. Just curious, what are you using for a phono preamp? That could be your bottleneck. And who set your table up? As the SME is a pretty high performance table, if it's off the performance goes downhill in a hurry.

I was using the phono stage in my C1000. I'm working through a couple of others because i've moved my SME away from the main stack. I'm starting with a simple EAR, i'll look at others and maybe stop with a Wavestream if I feel like being crazy.
Brian Hartsell did the setup on the SME. Brian has a pretty good reputation with all things TT. Some might be getting the wrong impression that things don't sound good, that's not the case in any way, shape, or form. The sound from my TT is really, really, good, probably better than most will experience. I just don't get all weak in the knees, and go all misty eyed when I plop down some vinyl. I so wanted to turn into a audiofool, and start making up nonsensical words to describe my experience listening to vinyl, but I didn't. I promise to keep trying. |

KMC,
I use both analog and digital sources, so I think I'm open-minded to whole A-D debate. I didn't see any mention in the thread about what cartridge you are using, or the condition of your LPs. It might help your cause if you focused on the cartridge (one of the transducers in your system).
