In the greater scheme of things, yes, you're absolutely correct!

Admittedly, I'm from the 'silly' audiophile camp, as I ordered one.

That being said, and whether you think buying a pair is worth it or not, go and have a listen. Seriously, in this case, not every watt is created equal, and Dan D'Agostino has really outdone himself here - it's so very un-Krell like! Imagine a Krell Evo One that's USD 20,000 cheaper, only much, much more musically engaging with just the right amount of lushness sprinkled in.

Ivan,

The D.D. Momentums will be driving my Wilson Sasha W/P's.

The rest of the system will comprise of the Ayre KX-R preamp, Ayre QB-9 USB DAC (Ayre DX-5 coming soon), Apple Mac mini (late-2009) w/OSX 10.6.8 Snow Leopard & Amarra 2.3, Transparent Ref. XL (MM2) cabling throughout (coming soon). and PurePower 3000 AC Regenerator (coming soon).

Pics will be forthcoming once all the pieces of the puzzle FINALLY come together!

Philip

Philip, Hi, I may have to follow your route as I checked and found out that
each time of tubes replacement for two of ARC REF 250s would cost me $5,000 US. I can't
afford such high maintenance cost. Also 600W/4 ohm from Momentum
assuring me better than 250w/4 ohm too.

I really don't no squat about tubes but that does not seem correct.

He could mean the entire set for a pair of them; even still sounds very high.

That is not the case at all. The KT120 is a $75 tube.

Paying a premium of $20k on top of the already expensive $25k Ref250's is not something I would personally do having heard both. To each their own of course!

I was shocking at this price too. Salesperson said $600 a pair for factory tubes.
But I think he means 6550 for older models rather than kt120. Long time ago this same dealer once told
Me that ref210 replacement cost $2000 and ref610t about $4000 (for both sides). That was the reason that kept me away from tube amp, until now that I am seriously thinking about ref250 that I checking price of tubes with them again.
But lucky you guys told me about tubedepot.com, thanks a lot.

The VU meter may tell you how much you weigh...if you stood on top of the amp. But caution not to do so after playing through these guys, unless you want to warm your feet. "P

Price aside, sounds very good. But reality, money makes the world go round. And multi purpose too! Cook eggs on them, weighing scale, good sounding amp. Maybe a radiator for the cold nights.

Ohhhh... I better stop. It's a good sounding amp, and does bass great. $42k depends if money is not the point.

I'd buy 2 pairs of MC1.2kw though, and put them on bi-amp.
