Ahh, I see, the KID has an actual built-in DAC, the Wadia is a digital transport.

The Papa Dock is the amp.

It's not clear, but I believe the KID uses the iPod's DAC.

I am confused. This article agrees with Mike: the KID uses the DAC in the iPod/iPhone.

I don't believe this is correct. I was a Krell dealer and remember having a conversation with them about this, and I was disappointed to learn that it does not bypass the dac in the ipod. Perhaps they've made a change - but this was not my recollection of the answer I got from Bill Mckegan.

In speaking with Bill today, the KID is different than it was years ago. They are working on it's next gen replacement that will be network controlled. I probably said too much already...

If that is the case then I, too, am very disappointed; for me this would be an expensive brick...

I suppose that would explain why they didn't post any information about the digital-to-analog conversion process anywhere in its literature.

Is this as bad as the rebranded OPPO gaff of Lexicon?

Will they be upgradeable? I have several iPod interfaces including the Krell, Wadia, etc, and I am not too impressed with any of them.
