I had a GMT years ago... now I wear a new SS SUB.

Is the extra hand the only difference? The case looks a little different too...

Hi I am on vacation and figured I would check in. Here are some of the changes made to the GMT, taken from wikipedia "An updated Rolex GMT Master II was released in 2005. This new model features a number of technical changes, such as Rolex's patented Parachrom hairspring as well as a larger Triplock crown (from the divers watches). The new model also has several cosmetic changes, such as larger case, hands and hour markers and also a new bezel made of an extremely hard ceramic material that is designed to be more scratch and fade resistant. Also included in the update is a new and more luxurious style of bracelet that has heavier solid links and a machined clasp. The stainless steel version now joins the precious metal versions by having highly polished centre links on its bracelet which gives the watch a more dressy appearance "

Stephen.......In addition to the items outlined by David, the newer Rolex GMT Master II (116710LN) also sports a lower crystal, and the back case cover sits closer to the case so the watch is more stable on your wrist. There is also a filter treatment to the date window to reduce glare.

David.......I am thinking of getting the new GMT Master II. I have looked at it several times, had it on my wrist for a few minutes, just haven't pulled the trigger yet. It really is an awesome watch that looks great, is built tough enough to be worn daily, and doesn't have to sit in the drawer until you're dressed for some special occasion to wear it. I also like that it is a 40mm watch. I really like the ceramic bezel with the platinum inlaid numbers. That's a real improvement over the earlier model, as is the new Triplock crown, and the Anti-reflective coating of the cyclops lens that improves the date visibility. I really like this watch.
