Battery Question
For the first time in about 6 years, I needed to use the remote on my Integra receiver. As you would expect, the 2 original Philips AA batteries in the remote were dead. Removed them and put in 2 brand new Duracell AA batteries. Remote would not work. Had another 2 brand new Energizer batteries and these would not work either. Tried these batteries on another remote and they worked fine. Just for fun, I opened up my Verizon Fios remote and there were 2 Philips batteries in there. Popped them into the Integra remote and it worked.
Any thoughts on why this remote works with one brand of batteries, but not with name brands like Duracell or Energizer?

Not unless one requires those rechargable AA's. Sounds really odd.

Steve.......Now that the remote is working with the Philips batteries have you tried returning to the Energizer or Duracell batteries? Just a guess, but perhaps the remote needed a capacitor to charge and it took a few moments. Give the Duracell or Energizer batteries a second try and let us know.

Hello. As Dan stated, but also if your remote has been idle or in storage with the batteries in place for a few years, the battery connections could be slightly oxidized. Since you replaced the batteries a couple of times, the friction may have removed some of the oxidized metal. Try gently sanding the remote battery connections with a nail file or fine grain sand paper. Add batteries and you should be good to go. Just my 2 cents. Regards

Thanks for all the suggestions. I tried the Duracell and Energizer batteries again with no luck. Than did a very light sanding with nail file, still no luck. Put the Philips batteries back in and it worked great.
This makes no sense to me. At least I was able to use the remote with the Philips batteries to make the change I needed. I added a Roku to my bedroom system and needed to set one of the inputs on the Integra to Optical. Accomplished this with remote and now I'm good so the remote is going back into the drawer!

You could try rubbing both battery ends with lemon juice & using a q-tip for the inside terminals on the remote battery compartment.
