Tube Dampers
Has anyone tried these ? Was thinking about using them in my CD8. I guess they keep the temperature down and should increase tube life but could that have negative effect on SQ ?

Yes, Herbie's dampers on all amp tubes. Best to fit them on the getter line so they don't suck the musical life out them.
They make a difference to help minimise microphonics, stabilising the tube from airborne vibrations at louder volume levels. |

to the best of my knowledge ARC provides them (for the signal tubes)

in so far as the Herbies products, good stuff but no reason to spend that amount of $$, IMO, medical grade silicone O-rings work just fine. |

Yeah noticed that when replacing my ARC tubes. My Ayon doesn't seem to have them. Do you know where I can source a damper for 6H30s?

Herbies are very effective though a bit pricey. |

Herbies website mentions specifically that they don't recommend using their dampers with 6H30s.

ARC sells them for $5 each. Call them directly or have your local ARC dealer order them.

Not quite ... Herbies offers their UltraSonic Rx-9 and HAL-O III dampers for 6H30s; its only their UltraSonic SS model that has heat limitations that preclude the 6H30. Fwiw, I've used the RX-9s on the 6H30 in CJ gear and they worked fine.

Thanks. Didn't know that. I just selected the damper for small signal tubes.
