Drywall complete, all Transparent Cabling has been run and the room has been painted and carpeted. First sound "test"... Best "bare" room I have heard to date.

Once again, at this point the theater could have gone many different ways, a "theme" theater, a theater mostly covered with various material panels to keep it on the dead side but I decided to go the ASC way. Since this theater will also double up for 2 channel listening (mostly digital), I wanted to also be able to enjoy music besides the movie soundtracks. ASC was once again consulted and the room treatment was designed around the fact that 2 channel and multi-channel listening will be involved.

We decided and took into account before installing the screen housing that the front wall may be extensively treated as I like my sound imaging to be very sharp and focused! Therefore we made sure the screen will clear any front wall treatments when it comes down for movies.

ASC just came out with a new product called the "SMART" series of their bass traps, half rounds, diffusion panels, etc. They are a bit more affordable and look great.

Extensive front wall treatment: ASC Half-Rounds and Smart diffusor panels.

No great sounding room is ever complete without some bass traps! Obviously 2 bass traps stacked in each corner.

The pattern repeats on the sidewalls. Smart Diffusors/Panels are encased in picture frame mouldings to break up the monotony and introduce a factor of some kind of elegance?

Of course no great sounding room is ever complete without some ceiling treatments! In my case, the steel support beam running along the front 1/3 of the room made this especially important! Generous amount of ASC Smart Half-Rounds are deployed to battle the sonic gremlins!

And this brings us up to date. Next week we will attempt to get the built in cabinet stained and finished up, the projector mounted, rear seating section installed, etc...

Some decisions will be made what if any additional treatments are needed for the bottom half of the room, with the picture frame mouldings completed and ready to accept additional panels.

As I have now put in 2 days worth of listening in the room, stay tuned for impressions.
