I can remember hearing my first pair of B&W 620s hooked up to Krell at the dealer . It really does make a big difference

Personally I think vintage JBL’s are hugely underrated.

However, that won't stop be attending Synergy Audio's SF Aida demonstration in the coming month or so... She just may motivate me to build that bigger room... Last edited by MyPal; 03-04-2012 at 10:47 PM. |

They sounded decent with the CJ MV-60, a heck of a lot better with the Dartzeel and Burmester.

I'm on the other side of that. I worked at a big JBL dealer in the 70s. Just not my cup of tea. Compellingly dynamic though.

I agree with Jim's statement and I believe that speakers have the largest impact of any other component on overall sonic presentation.
Is this OK with you? ;-)

Not to derail a thread but curious what speakers you preferred from that era ?

As far as largest impact, the largest impact is always the source, imo. Move a mike a few inches and I can go from sublime to hideous. But speakers are the most personal choice. One really needs to pick the poison they prefer and then buy the gear to maximize its effect. Price isn't relevant. |
