Default Just got word of the av8801 and mm8077

I just got an email on the AV8801 and MM8807. These look interesting. Especially the new reference processor. Coming in December.

The processor looks like a home run! As for the amp, how can they ask over $2k for an amp that's not even 4ohm rated...?

I took the plunge and pre-ordered the AV8801 (got great deal too!). Hoping it's much better than the already very good AV7005, and maybe almost as good as the Mac MX121. Now, on to selecting a 2 ch preamp with HT bypass!

I gotta say I have been looking at the mx-121 but I think I am going to go this way for HT and a c2300 for 2ch.

Mac, pretty much the same route for me with C2300. However, I do also like the C48 and Classe CP800 since they both have USB input/good dacs, and I'm thinking seriously about adding a dedicated music server. The mx121 just missed the mark by not having XT32 at that price point. Can't see paying 6k for it without it being at least close to cutting edge on the HT side for RC/EQ. XT32 can't be that much more expensive for them to include since XT32 can be found in cheap Onkyo receivers. Mikey Fremers review in Home Theater magazine almost swayed me though. Regardless, happy with this "separates" direction.

First impressions of a production unit. Looks good.

But sadly no Marantz equivalent of DenonLink. The 8801 is based off the Denon 4520 AVR which does have DL HD with the matching 3313 transport.

-- I was looking at the AV8801 earlier this morning on Marantz's website; interesting.
