Default Top 5 Albums in the Last 5 Years

I'm always looking for engaging new music. While it's getting more difficult to find great new bands, I do occasionally find that rare gem that is musically interesting and is recorded exceptionally well.

Here are my top 5 from the last 5 years:

5. Angus and Julia Stone - Down the Way - one of my favorites is "Draw Your Sword"...very dark but emotionally engaging

4. Band of Horses - Acoustic at the Ryman DSD download from Acoustic Sounds - I found this on Christmas and have been listening to it daily...awesome example of DSD done right!

3. Beck - Morning Phase - This has become my go-to Saturday morning album

2. Vanessa Fernandez - Use Me - if you enjoy female vocals, you MUST have this SACD or vinyl offering (or both)

1. Les Mis - The 25th Anniversary Concert on Blu Ray - Turn up the volume and be prepared for tears. This is an incredible experience!

I'm hoping this provides a few titles to explore for some of you...and hoping you might post a few that I need to know about as well!

Happy listening!

Really good picks! Love all of these! Draw Your Swords is one of the most amazing tracks to listen to on my system. With the close mic vocals, sounds like it's coming from the heavens... sounds awesome!

This is a difficult one;

1) Agnes Obel - Aventine
2) Buddy Guy - Born to Play Guitar
3) David Bowie - Blackstar
4) Rolling Stones - Blue & Lonesome
5) Dan Patlansky - Wooden Thoughts

Seems like the old timers are ruling the roost

Listen to Big things going down from Dan Patlansky's album. One of the most rocking blues tracks in a long time, and a fantastic demo track to boot. The acoustic version from wooden Thoughts is his best version of this song. Dan is developing as one of the best blues guitarists in the mold of SRV.

Sadies - Internal sounds
Mathias Eick - Midwest
