CD 3 of the Oistrakh box.

Beethoven - Violin Concerto
Sibelius - Violin Concerto
Stockholm Festival Orchestra, Sixten Ehrling

For recordings done in '54, this is a very agreeable listen.
Not in the least because of the splendid performance of Oistrakh. Wow!

Rameau - Keyboard Suites
Angela Hewitt

I never tire of hearing this album.
The beauty of these works is eternal bliss (even when played on a grand piano and not a harpsichord, I think even Julian will agree!).

Default Corelli: Concerti grossi

Just got back from a 14-day trip. The first thing I put in my player was...

Corelli: Concerti grossi, Op. 6 (12, complete)
The English Concert, Trevor Pinnock

A superb interpretation by Pinnock and his outstanding English Concert. Pure joy from this set. The late 1980's DG recorded sound is very fine.

Been in a bit of a musical dry spell: contractor doing some work on our living room so my main system is under covers, and we've had two young and energetic grandchildren with us for 12 hours a day for the last couple of weeks, but this morning finally some peace and quiet, and this:

Tchaikovsky: Scenes From Swan Lake
Concertgebouw Orchestra, Anatoli Fistoulari conducting
Decca 1961
From the box set "Decca Sound: The Analogue Years"

Beautiful music, sound and performance.

Some delightful Bach with breakfast...

I finally got around to ordering his Vivaldi Concerti for Two Violins after the positive reviews here a couple months ago, and while at Presto, picked up a couple others of his, each very good. Unfortunately the Vivaldi is on backorder so I have been unable to enjoy it just yet.

Robert Schumann & Antonín Dvorák - Piano Concerto
Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg, Marc Albrecht
Martin Helmchen, piano

Quite wonderful performance and terrific sound.
Two highlights of the romantic period.

Joseph Haydn - Londener Symphonien Nr. 102, 103, 104
Cappella Coloniensis, Bruno Weil

Listening in stereo this time (normally I listen in surround to these SACDs).
While not enveloping as much as in 5.0, still a wonderful experience.
This series contains by far my favourite versions of these works.
