Default Dectet

Am getting a Dectet as a backup conditioner for times like now when I am without my P5 due to failure. Current users of Dectets have you had any issues with it shutting down unexpectedly?

Kevin.......The early Dectet power conditioners were a bit sensitive to over-voltage. A little bump in voltage over the set point would cause it to trip open, requiring you to reset it with the power button. I think PS Audio has adjusted the set point so that the microprocessor is not quit so quick to shut down the power. The Dectet I use in the studio system to extend power from a PurePower 2000 to the two channel rack occasionally trips during a thunderstorm. When I experience momentary power interruptions with the power being restored almost immediately, the small unclamped voltage spikes that get past my Detek Surge Arrestors on my panels cause the Dectet to sense a voltage rise and open it's power circuit. This is a design feature. I have never experienced the Dectet shutting down during normal use and listening sessions. I do not mind that it occasionally trips under the conditions described because I know my expensive preamplifier and source components are being protected.

Thank you Dan for the detailed explanation. Kal R best be looking over his review shoulder - you have quite the gift Dan. I would much prefer a trip/ reset than the expensive repair. In my listening room upstairs I generally unplug my P5 from the outlet since it may be another week before I enjoy another session.
