I did go to the dealer event, met Richard and talked to him about my new speakers and throughly enjoyed his "seminar". Surely one of the most interesting men in audio.
Will you be posting a summary of his talk? What speakers were demo'd and with what electronics? Did he offer any insight into future offerings or industry trends?

The dealer had three separate listening rooms set up. One each of the Quatro, the Treo CT and the regular Treo. The Quatros were powered by Audio Research "Foundation" equipment. CDs were played via a DCS player. Speaker cabling was Transparent. Both of the Treos were powered by Simaudio integrated amps. Music was streamed to the Treos but I cannot recall the player or the source.

I arrived early so I got to visit with RV for a while before the "seminar" began. I mentioned to him that I had just purchased the Quatros so much of our one on one conversation involved my new speakers. His presentation later to the assembled group included a mix of technical information about his speaker designs and his personal preferences in speaker sound that informed his design goals. He has a wealth of knowledge related to speaker design and the audio business in general. I think the generic question and answer session touched on many topics, any one of which, could have been explored in even more fascinating detail had time permitted.

I now have the Quatro CTs in my home. I'll share my listening impressions later.

Awesome and thanks for sharing. I can't wait to get the Quatros delivered. I told him to hold off the build for a bit as I have been traveling. Just back from two weeks of family stuff in Nepal. Ayre has now installed the high pass filter directly into the AX5/twenty. They were so quick to get it done. Very please about that. I'm going to do a ceramic nano coat on the paint to give it that showroom look and to harden up with clear coat. Went to hear other speakers yesterday and felt let down. First time I've heard Focal in years. The Sopra line just sounds flat with no 3D presentation

Hi CTSooner,

Congrats on your incoming Quatro speakers. I'll be interested to hear your impressions after they've been set up. Very neat that Ayre has installed the high pass filter directly in the AX-5 Twenty. I wasn't aware they could do that.

My Model 7 Mk2 have really come into their own now that the M7-HPA mono amps and ARC Reference 10 preamp have 450 hours on them. Improvement should continue up to about 600 hours but they already sound so great.

Best,
Ken

The Quatros are at Audio Connection but I head to FL and then LA to see family for the next few weeks. I won't get them delivered until the end of April. Oh well. Bad timing lol

I was also at the event, and am a huge Vandersteen fan. His talk was amazing, and I'm really glad I got to hear it.

How are you liking your Quatros?

Any chance AA can have a dedicated Vandersteen section in the Manufacturers Forums?

Default Vandersteen 5A Carbon

in the system. They DO benefit from a better power cord. Also the SR BLACK fuses.
