I think these current Mac remotes excellent. I have an MVP851 that, with the new remote for the MVP881, no longer turns on or is otherwise affected when using the new 881 remote. Nice.

Substance, thanks for the tip. The 851 is a nice piece of gear. Excellent for watching a DVD movie. Takes the wear off my 881 BR. I plan on keeping my 881 as long as I can.

Best

Some may see it that being a Panasonic clone is a negative thing but I disagree. Panasonic Rp line was some of the best DVD players at the time. It was one of the few DVD player which didn’t exhibit chroma upsampling error due to its superb mpeg decoder.

You can easily make it region free and add a digital sdi output on the video side. I modified mine to have SDI out. The picture quality is better than most current disc players.

Default First Chance to Own a Mc

I have wanted a McIntosh powered system for 45 years. I finally have an opportunity to pick up a used MA6850. I'm going to see the guy Sunday and hope its in good working order. What are your opinions on the MA6850? I sold my turntable and all my albums years ago and don't expect to ever get back into vinyl. My sources would be digital from an Apple MacBook via an Apple AirPort Base Station, CD player and my old Toshiba DX-900 VCR with PCM recording. I'm dreading when that unit finally dies. I probably have 3000 albums I transferred direct from CDs to VHS tape on it.
If all goes well with the MA6850 purchase I'm hoping by this time next year I can get a pair of Klipsch Heresy IVs to go with it.
Thanks for any advice, tips, etc..
Tim

Thanks, I'm really enjoying these speakers. I was looking for something not too tall for this room and efficient enough to allow me to play with different amplifier types...plus I have a preference for speakers with wide baffles for some reason. With that in mind I auditioned them against La Scalas and Harbeths (I know not so efficient) and these just had something extra that made the source come alive. The fit and finish is flawless, nothing more to really say about that. Regarding the sound, it could be the amp I'm currently using, an MC275, but I find I prefer to listen to jazz, acoustic, ambient and downtempo music through this system as compared to my other system, Accuphase/Sonus Faber Elipsas, which I find more dynamic and better for rock. You cant see in the pic, but I do have a REL S510 tucked in the corner which helped with the dynamics. The 0/96s do a great job with soundstage and in this room I prefer them pointed dead straight into the room. Lots of great speakers out there but if you get the chance to audition these, it would be worth it.
