Glenn, I don't know about "mature" but perhaps a bit more "responsible".
Still a few manuals being offered here and there but even the new Corvette does not come with it anymore! The horror!
Having learned how to drive a stick at 13 and borrowing my father's car without permission a few times, the manual has definitely been a big part of my life.
Besides the manual disappearing, I can see the self driving cars taking over completely in a few decades, although by then many of us will be happy to embrace it.
